The Sichuan Medical Association was founded in 1927. At the beginning of its establishment, it determined the purpose of the association: “It is composed of members of the association and doctors. Because they share the same heart of relief, they should be harmonious and united, so that academics can be updated day by day and the people with diseases and weaknesses can become healthy nations.” The successive councils have led the medical and scientific workers of the medical association, and have always taken “five promotions and three services” as their mission to promote the prosperity and development of medical science and technology, promote the popularization and promotion of medical science and technology, promote the growth of medical science and technology teams, promote the development of ethnic medicine industry, and promote the combination of medical science and technology with economic construction, serving medical and scientific workers, serving the health and health cause, and serving socialist modernization. At present, the association has 525 unit members, 102 professional committees , and 75 youth committees , basically covering the first and second-level medical disciplines, ranking first in the west. There are 16,416 senior specialist members and a total of more than 12,000 members.

At present, it has become the most complete medical science and technology society in Sichuan with the largest membership team and business activities. It is also the most representative and authoritative medical professional academic organization in our province. It is the only comprehensive medical social organization in our province certified by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology as a provincial science and technology award nominee. It is the member home of scholars in various medical disciplines in the province. It is in a leading position among the medical associations in western provinces (cities) and regions, and has a certain international influence. It has won honors such as “National Advanced Social Organization of the Ministry of Civil Affairs”, “Star of Provincial Society of China Association for Science and Technology”, “Advanced Collective of Earthquake Relief of China Association for Science and Technology”, “Advanced Local Medical Association of Chinese Medical Association”, “Advanced Institution of Open Development in Sichuan Province”, “5A-level Social Organization in Sichuan Province”, and “First-class Society in Sichuan and Chongqing”.
