HCOWA, GNCoP Partner for 2024 West Africa Medical Summit and Expo in Accra

In a significant development aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in Ghana, the Health Community of West Africa (HCOWA) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ghana National Chamber of Pharmacy (GNCoP) to co-host the 2024 HCOWA West Africa Medical Industry Investment Summit and Expo from August 26–28, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The MoU, which binds the two parties for the upcoming expo, aims at fostering collaboration in addressing health disparities and meeting the needs of the pharmaceutical industry.

The MoU was signed by Anna Jiang, CEO of HCOWA, and Pharm Audrey Serwaa Bonsu, CEO of GNCoP. Both leaders emphasized the importance of this agreement in promoting present and future cooperation for the collective benefit of the healthcare industry.

Anna Jiang highlighted the global impact of the upcoming exhibition, which is expected to attract numerous exhibitors, particularly from China.

She explained that exhibitors at the expo will showcase a wide range of products, including medical equipment, medical consumables, pharmaceutical products, biotechnology innovations, and public health solutions.

Jiang noted that the partnership with GNCoP is timely, as it will enable both parties to better understand and address the needs of Ghana’s health sector.

She assured the Chamber of HCOWA’s commitment to assisting in overcoming any challenges it faces.

Pharm Audrey Serwaa Bonsu of GNCoP expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to significantly advance Ghana’s healthcare industry.

She noted that the shared interest in boosting the healthcare sector would benefit both organizations.

Bonsu also highlighted the event’s potential to facilitate stakeholder connections, foster interactions, and attract healthcare industry investors, while exploring avenues for international collaboration.

The summit and expo are expected to be landmark events, drawing over 200 exhibitors, more than 150 hospitals, 50 VIPs, and delegates from across West Africa.

This large-scale gathering will facilitate knowledge exchange, showcase innovations, and promote investment opportunities in the healthcare sector.
